COUNTING BIRDS: OCD ORNITHOLOGY I’ve always counted birds–on a wire, in flight or swimming in the water–it’s a personal obsession.
In 2004, I began taking snapshots of birdlife along the LA River in Atwater Village where I lived. This project evolved into a desktop installation for a one-person show in 2018.
UPDATE–CITIZEN SCIENCE In 2019, there was a massive die-off of ducks, geese and other water birds on the LA River from avian botulism. Counting Birds: OCD Ornithology became a document of the abundant birdlife in one section of the river prior to that catastrophic event.
